Scholarship Guideline

Tips to Remember

1. Scholarship application and information are available on the counselor’s web page (www.lexington.isd.tenet.edu/counselor/lhs)

and through the counselors office.

2. Listen for announcements, check the website, visit the counselor.

3. Be aware of the following on EACH application:

a.      Eligibility requirements

b.     Deadline

c.     Number of recommendation letters needed and who these letters must be from

d.     To whom or where is the application to be submitted

e.      Special instructions or requirements (i.e. essay, letter from employer, etc.)

4. If you do not have a resume, put one together.  The counseling office can help.

5. When requesting letters of recommendation, please:

a.      Be considerate, give at least a week for an individual to complete your recommendation

b.     Let them know your deadline

c.     Be certain that the recommendation is directed to the appropriate scholarship.

d.     Check that the recommendation has a signature.

6. Deadline dates are not a suggestion! 

a.      The deadline is the last day and/or time that the application will be accepted.

b.     An application ca and should be turned in before the deadline whenever possible.
